Le contrôle de la chaire par les institutions représentatives dans les Églises protestantes du Sud aquitain (vers 1840 – vers 1905)
In the nineteenth century, under the influence of the Awakening, Protestantism in the southern Aquitaine region fragmented, issuing in the coexistence of religions with varying principles and institutions: Reformed, free churches, Darbyites, Anglicans, Scottish Presbyterians. This plurality evoked certain tensions and conflicts surrounding the pulpit. In a context of the reaffirmation of Protestantism in the public sphere, control over the preaching proved more important than over and resulted in the institutionalization of the debates, mobilizing actors both within and outside the churches. Official negotiations, unofficial talks, and the adaptation of discourses and institutions were some of the means adopted to resolve these conflicts.
